Jim and I are looking at Loop Head Peninsula in County Clare Ireland as part of our summer 2016 vacation. Lahinch looks like a possible picturesque stop (see previous post about another possibility, Kilkee, Ireland.) Too bad we don’t golf – looks like there’s an awesomely picturesque course.
I wanted to reply yesterday. When I landed in Shannon with no real agenda (how like me), I was driving down some country road, I think a detour, and saw a tiny sign that said “Kylemore Abbey”, with an arrow pointing right. Right I turned, and viola. When I got there, I nearly died. It was Feb, so there were no leaves on the trees, making it even more amazingly beautiful to me. Something to consider. I love Ireland, and its people. http://www.kylemoreabbeytourism.ie/
This looks AWESOME! Thanks for sharing, QM! Will definitely explore building it our itinerary! Cool!
ps a client of mine stayed here… OH MY. http://www.adaremanor.com/en/
Oh, my, is right. I suspect there is a reason you don’t find the room rates – if you have to ask, it’s probably more than you want to pay!
pps I stayed in a country house, here is a list of some of the finest, apparently. http://www.cntraveller.com/recommended/hotels/country-house-hotels-in-ireland/page/gregans-castle-hotel,-county-clare
Oooh, it’s going to be fun to plan this one. We loved Ireland when we went a few years back – Went from Dublin and around the south. Of course we love the people, too – uh, we’re FLAHERTY and HOGAN after all! ;]
Didn’t you do the ring of kerry? going by memory. 🙂 You will have so much fun. And there are cheaper country hotels than those in Conde Nast or whatever it was. 🙂 Can’t wait to hear what you decide!
