Tasting Mindfulness

Curiosity Yoga

I am grateful for the opportunity to co-create with my amazing colleagues. Since starting a mindfulness movement at the company where I work, I’ve met so many super people. There’s a growing sense of community and our collective power to shape change feels very real. I am so fortunate to be co-leading a weekly Stress Less series of 15-minute virtual mindful sessions with a lovely woman named Kat. She recently shared the lovely poem below with me. It is definitely abundant deliciousness!

Tasting Mindfulness

by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Have you ever had the experience of stopping so completely,

of being in your body so completely,

of being in your life so completely,

that what you knew and what you didn’t know,

that what had been and what was yet to come,

and the way things are right now,

no longer held even the slightest hint of anxiety or discord,

a moment of complete presence beyond striving,

beyond mere acceptance,

beyond the desire to escape or fix anything or plunge ahead,

a moment of pure being,

no longer in time,

a moment of pure seeing, pure feeling,

a moment in which life simply is,

and that is-ness grabs you by all your senses,

all your memories, by your very genes, by your loves,

and welcomes you home, that is a taste of mindfulness.

  1. What a beatiful way of taking a moment of rest! Looking at the photo you took here in Italy and reading your sweet words remind me once again of the gift of your presence. You Vicki Flaherty are a gift. I could not be more grateful to you for being a great leader, for creating such a a wonderful movement inside our company and for co-creating with me our amazing and precious activities. And I could not be more grateful to you for inspiring me every day with your truly mindful way of being. Thank YOU my dear collegue and friend. Kat

    • Kat, it is pure joy to collaborate with YOU. You have such a gentle, mindful spirit – and a beautiful, soothing voice that melts me into mindfulness every time I hear it. I feel so very fortunate that our paths have crossed and remain curious (;]) about where we’ll go together!

  2. Thanks for the beatiful poem, Vicki, it’s an honor to support this wonderful initiative. In only few months your original idea grew exponentially and started to spread and live on its own. I believe it’s mostly because of your energy, your big heart and your soothing and inspirational presence..! I wish you realize that even if you never ever do anything anymore… that just by being who you are you make the world abundantly delicious for all of us 🙂

    • Jana, thank you for your encouraging and energizing words. I’m trusting that by leaning into what I’m passionate about and what heart calls me to do, I’ll bring joy into my life and others, too. YOU are one of the lights that shines as a reminder to me how beautiful it is when you glow and shine out loud. So grateful for your friendship!
