The highlight of my day was lunch with Lisa. Lisa and I met at a poetry workshop last year that was part of The Examined Life conference hosted by The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Maybe it was the vulnerability required in class to share our poetry – and, thus, ourselves – that led to our wonderful connection and special friendship…What a wonderful way to enjoy the middle of my day, catching up with Lisa.
We shared the exciting things going on in our lives, coming to the conclusion that it feels like we are on a roller coaster (in a yeah! kind of way), with the energy pulling us to some delicious place ahead. We opened up to the unknown and asked ourselves to trust we’d end up at an unimaginably wonderful destination. We spoke from our hearts about what moves us, what challenges us, what we are seeing and experiencing in our lives. We spoke about what’s true for us. It was like writing poetry together.
